Melvin Charles Palecek

August 20, 1927 - April 18, 2015

Mel a resident of San Carlos, Calif. has gone home to be joined with his beloved mother, Adele Klug and father Joseph John Palecek. He was Born in Ceylon, Minnesota.

He is survived by his brother Joe, (Joseph) of Napa California with his wife Joan, (4 nieces and one nephew) his wife (Margaret) of 42 years, and his daughter, Kathleen with two Grand children and two great grand-daughters.

Mel's father an Ironworker came to California to work on the San Francisco Bay Bridge and considered San Francisco their home from that time.

Mel graduated from Mission High in 1943, in San Francisco. He joined the Merchant Marines. Also, received a Honorable Discharge after serving his country in the U.S. Army. Mel worked as an Ironworker for 45+ years, most of the construction was for high rise buildings.

Some of his favorite things to do, were to take his boat out in the ocean at Half Moon Bay and fish for Salmon. He looked forward to planting a garden each year and supplying his neighbors and friends with fresh tomatoes. Also, he enjoyed taking long and frequent walks with his dogs.

He will be forever loved and remembered by his family and friends.
