A Lifelong San Franciscan and 80-Year Member of the Olympic Club
Michael James King Jr., a lifelong resident of San Francisco and a devoted 80-year member of the Olympic Club, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, at the age of 90.
Born in San Francisco on June 21, 1935, to Michael and Alice King, Michael was deeply rooted in the city he loved. Proud of his Irish heritage and a lifelong advocate for education, he attended Star of the Sea School, Bellarmine College Preparatory, and St. Ignatius College Preparatory,
Michael went on to attend Stanford University, graduating with a degree in Engineering. A proud Cardinal alumnus, he often spoke fondly of his years at Stanford. Following graduation, he served the United States Navy, achieving the rank of Captain.
After completing his active duty, Michael earned his Master's degree in Business from USF.
Family was at the heart of Michael's life. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Kathleen; his sons, Michael and Martin; and five cherished grandchildren: Owen, Payton, Brendan, Abigail, and Margaret: Cousins Robert and Marsha Holm and Judy Holm and Father Anthony King.
A private service will be held for immediate family in late October.

Dear Kathy and Family,
I am sorry for your loss. I know I saw Mike at Picola Tratoria, it seems not so long ago and he looked well. Hope he had a peaceful passing to his next life.
I have not seen either of you at St. Hilary's in a long time. It appears you are no longer living in Tiburon and I wish wherever you are that family is not far.
Take care of yourself. Peter and I always enjoyed your company.
