Born to Sylvia and Perry Lessin, Mike spent his youth in Los Angeles surrounded by family. It was here that he enjoyed body surfing in the Pacific, exploring his passion for music, and where he began developing his life-long hobby of photography. Upon adulthood, he moved northward and attended UC Berkeley where he received a Bachelors in Sociology. Michael also attended California State University of Hayward where he met Mari Allen, mother of his three children, and San Francisco State University where he earned a Masters in Computer Science. Over his life, he worked as a clerk in a Berkeley shop specializing in over-sized architecture and engineering prints, a service agent for a phone company, and finally a software engineer until he retired in order to continue his fight against cancer. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

I'm so sorry we didn't get to meet. We were cousins. But, I know about you now through your wonderful wife who contacted me through a request I posted four years ago for information on Lessins. My parents, Miltie Segel loved your father. I saw Perry many times and Charlie and Fannie both in Chicago and in California. I was called "Maureen" then. I took my Hebrew name given me by our great grandfather, Israel Lessin, "Miriyam" in 1986. Rest in peace.
