Michele Mason Obituary

Michele Mason 53, passed away peacefully in her San Francisco home on August 10, surrounded by her loving family. Carole Michele, (Miki), was born to Antoinette O'Connell and the late Edmund O'Connell on July 24, 1958, in Watertown, MA, where she grew up with her five sisters: Karen, Susan, Janice, Mary Ann and Deborah. Michele graduated from Watertown High in 1976, and received a BS in Business Management from University of Massachusetts in 1981. She relocated to San Francisco in 1986, where she married Daniel Mason. After a successful career in sales and marketing at Boise Cascade, Michele found her life's passion. She began her magnificent work with mothers and babies, becoming a parenting educator, lactation consultant and social advocate for children. Michele was featured on ABC's 20/20 and The Phil Donahue Show for her work on behalf of children and families. She founded the nonprofit Child Friendly Initiative in 1996 with the goal of improving lives of children by providing child friendly spaces in both public and private venues. She was a member of the Mother's Council of Motherhood Project, a consultant to A Foundation for Healthy Family Living and a certified infant massage instructor. Michele is survived by her husband Daniel Mason and their three children whom she loved deeply: Antoinette, Hannah, and Marcus. She is also survived by her mother Antoinette, her five sisters, their husbands, and 31 nieces and nephews.
