Nancy Colvin Obituary

Nancy Louise Colvin Passed away on December 26, 2007 in Palm Springs, CA, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Born June 17, 1937 in Milwaukee, WI, she traveled west and at the age of 19 discovered the wonders of San Francisco. She is survived by her loving husband, Judge Morton R. Colvin of Rancho Mirage and San Francisco, CA; as well as her loving brother, John Mollwitz of Milwaukee, WI; three loving step-children: Kimberly Quinn (Robert) of Danville, CA, Leslie Colvin Solomon (Jed) of Menlo Park, CA, and Steven Colvin (Cristina) of Novato, CA; and seven step-grandchildren. Nancy served as past president of the National Secretaries Association in San Francisco. She was a co-founder and past president of the Desert Newcomers of the Coachella Valley, and chaired numerous book clubs in San Francisco, Santa Rosa, and Rancho Mirage. Her greatest achievement was her love for others and how she would brighten their days. She was a giver and not a taker. This is written so that you will know how lucky I am to have had her in my life, how fortunate I am to have been a part of hers, how blessed I have been to have shared with her this life that we built together. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 2515 Fillmore Street, SF, CA on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Following the service, Interment will be at Hills of Eternity Cemetery in Colma, CA. Please call McAvoy O'Hara (415) 668-0077 for further information. A Memorial Service will be held at the Ramon Chapel, Forest Lawn Mortuary, Cathedral City, CA on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Forest Lawn, Cathedral City is in charge of arrangements.

Nancy, you still bring fond memories to mind and I know that your place in heaven must be wonderful. I knew you only a short time, however, admired your enthusiasm for life and your drive to be the best.
I will be thinking of you.

I only met Nancy once. We had lunch together with my parents and my sister. I only wish I could have known her better. I was always encouraged when I spoke to her on the phone those few times.

Dear Mort:

I was so very sorry to hear of Nancy's passing! No one had mentioned that she was ill and it is with great sadness that I write this message. Nancy was a very nice person and I enjoyed her company when we spent time together. She brought much to the scene, whether it be a book club, bridge or just a visit. Please accept my condolences.
