Nancy Singleton Obituary

Nancy L. Singleton
August 25, 1941 - March 15, 2024
Nancy Singleton (née Borgia), passed away surrounded by her loved ones on March 15, 2024, at the age of 82.
Nancy was proud to be a true San Francisco Native. Born on August 25, 1941, at St. Joseph's Hospital. She grew up in Noe Valley and attended St. Paul's from kindergarten through high school.
Nancy was the beloved wife of John; devoted mother to Kate, Anne (Jason), Bill, Shawn (Norine), and Maureen (David); adored grandmother of Riordan, Emmett, Travis, and Lily; cherished sister of Diane, Adrianne; and sister-in-law Mary; and loving aunt to Anastasia as well as many nieces and nephews in New York, Ireland, and England. She's predeceased by her parents, Joe and Betty Borgia, and her sister Marilyn.
Nancy lived a life of service, spending most of her career as a nurse at Hospice by the Bay, where she was known as a legend. She served as the St. Cecilia's Mothers' Club President and volunteered at charities close to her heart; including her church, the League of the Sacred Heart, and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Nancy loved spending time with her family, and she enjoyed tending to her garden with her eldest son. Her soda bread was a favorite and affectionately called grandma bread. After her cancer diagnosis, Nancy began doing marathons, raising tens of thousands of dollars to battle cancer. Her family joined her in these endeavors. Nancy was an avid traveler, exploring the US and many countries across the globe with her family, even visiting her dad's homeland of Ecuador and her beloved grandmother's hometown in Germany.
Nancy was a treasured friend and a "second" mother to many. She was a compassionate and generous soul, always putting others' needs before her own. Nancy will be remembered for her kindness and warm personality. She leaves a legacy of love.
Nancy courageously battled non-Hodgkin's lymphoma for nearly 30 years. In lieu of flowers, please donate in honor of Nancy Singleton, to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or By the Bay Health.
Nancy made the world a better place. How lucky we have been to have someone in our lives that makes saying goodbye so hard.
Please join us for Nancy's rosary on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., followed by her funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Both services will be at St. Cecilia's Church, 2555 17th Avenue, San Francisco.

I attended St. Paul's with Nancy from primary to graduation. We played together as young children in the Noe Valley district and I had many dinners with her and her family. She was the kindness little girl even back then. I on the other hand was the mischievous one so we made a good team. I will miss her but know that she went straight to our heavenly father. RIP Nancy.
