Nino J. Cefalu, aged 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Scottsdale, Arizona, surrounded by family, on November 30, 2024.
Born in 1936, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, Nino was the cherished son of Nino Sr. and Teresa Cefalu, who immigrated from Sicily.
Nino's life was marked by dedication to family, the Catholic Church and profession. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Barbara, with whom he shared 70 wonderful years. Together, they raised six children, nurturing a family that would grow to include 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Nino is survived by his wife, Barbara; his sons, Nino and Allen; his daughter, Teresa; and his brother, John.
Nino was a devout Catholic and an active member of the Catholic community, participating as a parishioner and a contributor to many charities. He took over his father's tax accounting firm in Sunnyvale in 1964. In appreciation of his distinguished service given to his community, Nino was awarded the Outstanding Young Man Award in 1969. Nino's commitment to his work and community was evident throughout his career.
Throughout his life, Nino embraced adventure and the outdoors. He was an avid traveler and scuba diver, and his passion for running led him to complete several marathons. He also enjoyed biking, snow skiing, and winemaking, pursuits that reflected his zest for life and exploration.
Nino J. Cefalu will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his professional integrity, and his adventurous spirit. His life was a testament to the values of faith, family, hard work and the joy of living fully. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A funeral will be held at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, in Los Altos, CA, on February 15, 2025, at 11:30 am, followed by a Celebration of Life reception. Nino will be laid to rest at a private family burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
