Otto Stillwachs Memoriam

Otto Stillwachs
February 24, 1941 - April 24, 2020
Otto passed peacefully at home on April 24, 2020, surrounded by his family.

Otto was born in Patterson, New Jersey. He met the love of his life, Betty, in 1967 and when she headed to California in a Mustang convertible with her sisters, he wasn't far behind. Otto graduated from the Newark College of Engineering and founded California Pneumatic Tool Company.

Otto's greatest joys were the four children that he and Betty raised in their San Francisco home. He was a devoted father, raising his children to follow their hearts and find their own individual paths.

Otto had a deep love of nature and adventure, equally at home in the Sierra Nevada backcountry and traveling internationally.

Otto's love of sailing brought him to the Golden Gate Yacht Club, where he served on the Board of Directors and as Rear Commodore during the 33rd America's Cup.

Otto lived his life with genuine happiness, always present in the moment, and completely engaged with the people around him.

Otto is survived by Betty, his loving wife of 45 years, his children Sarah, Elizabeth, Suzanne, and Thomas, his cherished grandsons Oliver and Everett, his son-in-law Tye and his daughter-in-law Siri, his siblings Marjorie, Steven, Sheryl, and the late Ronald and Thomas.

At the Board of Director Meetings of the Golden Gate Yacht Club, Otto was always the "adult in the room." His recommendations made the most logical sense, and the best for the club and its members. And, he was everybody's best buddy.

Our very best to his family in this time of sorrow.

Love,

Jenny & Gordon
