Patricia Burns Obituary

Patricia Anne Burns
November 30, 1949 - September 18, 2022
Pat passed away on Sunday the 18th of September at home in Pacifica of Pancreatic cancer with her husband Bob by her side.
She was predeceased by her parents Dorothy and Joseph Murphy, her beloved son Thomas Burns, her best friend of many years Christine Lambert and her beloved Yorkie "Molly" who died eight days before she did.
She is survived by her husband Robert burns, daughter Nancy Kelly, son in law Jacob Kelly, grandchildren James, Jenna and Justin. She is also survived by her sisters Leslie Sheppard and Rosemary Murphy, sister in law Kathleen Plessas and her children Jim and Bea Plessas and their daughter Sierra, and Laura and Randy Bien and their daughter Madison, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pat was born in Portland, Oregon but the family soon moved to Daly City where Pat attended schools in the Jefferson Elemenary School District. From 1957 to 1960, she attended Lafayette School of the San Francisco Unified School District. She was a Girl Scout Brownie in 1959 and in about 1960 the family moved to Potrero Hill where Pat attended St. Teresa's school to 1964. It was then Roosevelt Jr, High in SF 1964-1965. The family moved to San Leandro and Pat was at San Lorenzo High in '65-'66. In 1967 to graduation in 1968 she was at Washington High SF in the 4/4 program. With the 4/4 program she went to GWHS for 4 hours and then worked at Gillon Lumber on Geary Street for 4 hours.
During this time, Pat also volunteered at the VA Hospital in SF as a Candy Striper during summer vacations.
Pat and I got married in July of 1968 at the Swedenborgian Church on Lyon St. in SF and Pat went to work at the phone company "MA BELL" until our first child, Tom came along in 1973. Our first house was in the Pacific Manor district of Pacifica. Pat went back to work at the phone company for a while until our 2nd child, Nancy, arrived in 1977.
Pat went back to work on Nancy's 5th birthday at Klein & Co. on Clement St in San Francisco's Richmond District. For the next 40 years she had the job that was a perfect fit for her. She was able to work part time at first and then full time helping "her" tenants with any problems that arose. In the meantime she became one of the Klein family. She also property managed for the Hoffman Family.
Starting in 1993 with the kids mature enough to leave home alone, Pat and I started travelling the world with 13 trips to Europe, plus Canada, Mexico, Japan, China, South America, the South Pacific and a total of 37 US states. She especially enjoyed the Christmas Markets of Europe, "MALT WINE".
Also every year on her birthday she would travel to Olympia, Washington to spend time with her dear friend Ginni, whom we met on a trip to Italy in 1998. She was able to visit her one last time in June of this year.
After being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer last November, she received wonderful care from the staff at St Mary's Infusion Center.
Besides St. Mary's, Bob, Nancy and Leslie would like to thank Suncrest Hospice for their compassionate, professional and personal care of Pat in her last days. Especially Houng her "Certified Nurse Aide" whom was very patient taking care of Pat. Pat was able to give her a kiss on her last day. And last but not least we would like to thank Dr. Karim Bayanzay, her attending physician at St. Mary's who went over and above what one would expect. We would also like to express our gratitude to Tulip Cremation for taking care of Pat's earthly remains in a dignified and compassionate manor.
We will have a Celebration of Life, despite what Pat wanted, at a later. We will announce in the Chronicle.
Memorials may be made in Pat's name to Sempervirens Fund at Sempervirens.org or 650-949-1453 and/or The Felton Institute of San Francisco at "felton.org".
As Pat's husband of 54 years, all I ask is you remember Pat as the wonderful woman she was, with her smile and one of a kind laugh! Also the way she answered a phone, which she learned at the phone company over 50 years ago.

It's been a year since you left this world Pat, but I think of you so often and I always hear your laugh in my head. I miss you dear friend, I send you love and hugs and know you are soaring high and keeping all the angels in stitches. Do they have QVC in heaven?

I miss you my friend. My only comfort is you are no longer in pain. When I think of you I can still hear your laughter. Soar on my friend.

I'm devastated at the loss of such a special friend. I met Pat nearly 25 years ago on a trip and we became fast friends. You will never be forgotten Pat, loved your laugh, your caring ways and being a truly amazing friend. Soar high now with your son and no pain. Love you.
