Patricia Farber Obituary

Patricia Louise Farber

August 24, 1942 - August 4, 2015

Resident of Pleasant Hill Pat Farber passed away on Tuesday after a hard fought battle with lung cancer. She touched the lives of everyone she met with her warmth, energy and smile.

Pat was born in San Francisco, CA and graduated from Mercy High School. Pat was a stay at home mother before pursuing a long career in the insurance business. Pat's energy and passion for living allowed her to work until just last year. Pat enjoyed time with her many friends playing bocce, going wine tasting, traveling, and enjoying dinner and talking about the loves of her life - her four granddaughters. Pat lived to spend time with her grandchildren, often driving all over the bay area to see them play sports or support them in a school activity. She was always there for them - heart and soul. Pat also loved her traditions and two of her favorites involved her four granddaughters. Each year she would individually take the girls to San Francisco for a day of shopping and lunch at a restaurant of their choosing for their own special birthday celebration. Every December Pat would collectively take the girls ornament shopping in Lafayette. The girls would choose two ornaments, one for their tree and one for Pat's tree. Pat loved this tradition because each year at Christmas time she would look at her tree that was filled with ornaments chosen just for her by her four granddaughters. Pat was also a bit of a daredevil as evidenced by the sky diving adventure that she took part in only a few years ago.

Pat is survived by her three children Bill Farber (Enid) of Concord, Lori Brown of San Ramon, and Dana Ray (Joseph) of Alamo, and her four granddaughters, Paige Farber, Mackenzie Brown, and Madison and Rachel Ray. She is also survived by her sisters, Sheila Marko (Tony) of Napa and Norene Schillaci of San Mateo, and her brother Jim Cronin (Nancy) of Hillsborough.

Never one to dwell on negatives, and always the life of the party, Pat asked that friends and family take part in a celebration of life ceremony instead of a funeral. The celebration will be an open house held at Dana Ray's home: 120 Via Copla, Alamo from 2-5 pm on September 19th.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pat's honor to JDRF Greater Bay Area Chapter (jdrf.org), which supports research for type 1 diabetes, as Pat lived with diabetes for a great deal of her adult life.

Dear Bill, Lori and Dana: I had lunch with Alyn Morton and Sue McNulty Rainey the other day and they told me that your mom had passed away. I was out of the country at the time and missed reading the notice in the paper. Unfortunately, I will also be out of town when you have the life celebration. I had lunch with your mom a year or so ago and had been thinking about her and was going to call her to get together. We had such a nice visit after all those years and had a good deal to catch up on. She was just as much fun as she was back in the "Moraga days". We went through her pictures so I got to see her wonderful girls. We had a lot of fun remembering our times together as neighbors and co-workers for those many years. My heart goes out to you for the loss of your mother and Karen and Marc also asked me to send their condolences. With sympathy. Georgie Bonfigli
