Patricia Madigan Obituary

Patricia Keeney Madigan
12/04/1926 - 10/06/2025
Patricia Keeney Madigan passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, age 98. Patricia was born on December 4, 1926 in San Francisco to Frances and Vernard Keeney. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Lloyd (1994), grandson Peter Antonini, sister Barbara Wiltz, niece Ellen Wiltz, and nephews Daniel and Thaddeus Wiltz. Patricia is survived by her four devoted children, Michael Timothy Madigan (Julie), Linda Mae Antonini (Michael), Patricia Ann "Pam" Boonstra (Bryan) and Mary Christine Pezzola (Louis).
Pat and Lloyd were proud San Francisco natives. They met at St. Cecilia Elementary School, but Patricia graduated from St. Brigid Elementary in 1940. She graduated from St. Brigid High School in 1944 and enrolled in U.S. Nursing Cadet Corps training. To Lloyd, she was "honey boo," hence the lifelong nickname "Boo" used by family and friends. They married in 1946 and started their family in The City just as U.S. Merchant Marine Academy graduate Lloyd began long stretches at sea. They bought their first home in Westlake, where they raised their 4 children. Pat became an enthusiastic volunteer at Our Lady of Mercy parish. The childhood sweethearts had 48 wonderful years together.
Following Lloyd's death in 1994, Pat continued to thrive for more than 30 years. She became President of the Women's Propeller Club of the United States, Port of Golden Gate, and led the chapter's role in the restoration of the S.S. Jeremiah O'Brien Liberty ship. She volunteered at SF Kaiser Permanente Hospital, managing the gift shop and was a member of the knitting group. She was an expert seamstress and quilter. In later years, she taught herself to paint in oils and watercolors, often sharing her love of nature and the sea. She personally designed each new family member a needlepoint Christmas stocking to fit their personality, skills or hobbies – or the dreams she had for them. Ever thoughtful, she left a few extras for those she will never meet - more than 35 stockings in all.
Pat was the quintessential hostess, cook, and loyal friend. "Boo" was kind, thoughtful and independent. She made friends everywhere she went and had the unique ability to connect with anyone – young and old. The long-standing matriarch of the Madigan clan, she was a through line in our lives and will be deeply missed.
Patricia was the proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren: Petra St. George, Timothy Madigan (Araceli), John Antonini (Angela), Gina Hammond (Trevor), Peter Antonini, Jeffrey Boonstra (Michelle), Andrew Boonstra (Brianna) and Alexandra Cremen (Joseph). She leaves behind 12 adored great grandchildren; Madigan St. George, Sean Madigan, Sophia Madigan, Fiona Antonini, Primo Antonini, Isabella Antonini, Rory Hammond, Francesca Hammond, Emerson Hammond, Jackson Boonstra, Tanner Boonstra and Lillian Boonstra. She is also survived by sister-in-law Susan Jordan (Stephen), nephews Robert (Dawan) and Will Wiltz and niece Laurie Makilan.
