Paul Castleman Obituary

Paul Castleman

Paul Castleman, age 76, passed away on March 19, 2018 in San Francisco. He is survived by his wife Linda Blackstone, children Jennie Rosenn, Tony Castleman and Seth Castleman, and six grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Ruth Griffin and Jean Chase. Born in 1942 in Massachusetts to Anna and Benjamin Castleman, Paul lived in the Boston area until 1992. Since 1995, he lived in San Francisco. Paul graduated from Harvard University and worked for over 25 years as an executive at Bolt, Beranek & Newman, where he led development of computer systems for medical research and parallel processing systems. He also served in leadership positions in successful start-up medical software companies Belmont Research and Lincoln Technologies. Since the mid-1980s, Paul was very active in the nuclear disarmament movement, including serving for several years on the Board of Directors and as a Senate lobbyist for the Council for a Livable World. Paul was a long-time practitioner of Vipassana mindfulness meditation. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Paul was also a trusted advisor and cherished source of support and wisdom to many friends.
