Paul Dana Obituary
August 20, 1947 - August 11, 2018
Paul Martin Dana passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, August 11, 2018. Paul was born on August 20, 1947 in San Francisco, California, to Sam and Barbara Dana. Paul was a life-long resident of San Mateo. He attended St. Mathews Parochial School and graduated from Aragon High School in 1965.He graduated from San Jose State University in 1972 with a degree in Entomology.
Paul married Judy Saito on September 22, 1975, in Reno, Nevada.
Paul was employed by the San Mateo County Health Department for 34 years. Paul was the consummate health professional and he always put the health and safety of the public first. He served on the county Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team for over 20 years. Paul's passion for Entomology served him well as a Trustee of the County Vector Control Board. He retired in 2007 as the Environmental Program Manager for Housing.
Paul loved the outdoors. He was an avid duck hunter, abalone diver and fisherman. Despite his swing, Paul enjoyed playing golf. Paul was a long-time member of the San Mateo Elks Lodge where he rarely missed his daily swim. Paul loved being out on the lake swapping stories with his fishing buddies. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with Judy and their beloved Springer Spaniels at their Tahoe second home.
Paul is survived by his wife of 43 years Judy, his mother Barbara, siblings Marianne and Tom, nieces; Emily (Marianne) Monica, Jenny, and Laura (Tom) and nephew Michael (Tom).
Paul was predeceased by his father Sam Dana and his niece Carolyn (Tom).
A celebration of Paul's life will be held at the San Mateo Elks Lodge, 229 West 20th Ave, San Mateo; on September 22, from 12:00-4:00.

Paul was a compassionate and pleasurable man to be around whether it be hunting,dog walking or just visiting with. Will miss you Paul. Sincerely Ken Dittman
