Paul Pineda Obituary

Paul Mario Pineda

July 6, 1944 - September 3, 2018

Paul Mario Pineda, age 74, of Millbrae, CA., passed away on September 3, 2018. Paul was the eldest of five children born to Mario Pineda and Carmen Sanchez Pineda. Pre-deceased by his brother Louie, Paul is survived by his sisters Theresa Dinger (Mark), Gloria Landholt (Gerald), and Lydia Kohn (Brian).
Paul was raised in San Bruno, CA., and served in Vietnam as a young man. Upon his return, he married Lolly Calpotura, and together they lived in Millbrae for over 40 years and raised two children, Amanda and Thomas. He was a dedicated husband of 47 years, a loving father and a man who cherished his wife and children above all else.
A long-time US Postal Service employee, Paul championed fellow workers' cases as a Union Shop Steward. Upon retirement, he worked as an Ombudsman for San Mateo County. His love of all things aviation led him to a 16-year stint as a volunteer docent at the SFO Aviation Museum and Library. Other activities included volunteering at the annual Millbrae Art and Wine Festival, the Friends of the Millbrae Library, and participating in discussions at the Death Cafe.
Paul was quick to laugh and with a twinkle in his eye, more than ready to explain things to you, anything: politics, religion, Corvairs, or classic movies were all favorite topics. He was equally at home quoting Daffy Duck as he was Thomas Aquinas, and would do so in such a manner that was often both enlightening and hysterically funny.
Life was so much more richer, hopeful and hilarious with Paul around. I guess we all need to "get organized and make a plan!" and get on with honoring him by living up to the extraordinary example he set and while doing so, never forgetting to have a few laughs along the way.

Psalms 90:10 says that the days of our years are 70 years, And if because of special mightiness they are 80 years. May the memories of the wonderful times you shared together bring a smile and joy in your heart.
