Pearl Ruth Wolffs died peacefully in her home on February 9, 2021 at the age of 101. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter, her brother Seymour Sweet, her son Melvin Wolffs and her daughter Agusta Ruth Wolffs. She is survived by her son David Wolffs (Nancy McDevitt) and her daughter Suzanne Levin (Michael). She has seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.Pearl was born on October 31, 1919, in Stockton, California to Bessie and Samuel Sweet. She was one of two children. She attended high school in her hometown. Pearl loved opera and studied music in college before meeting her adoring husband.
She was married to Walter Wolf Wolffs. They made their home in Richmond, California where they raised their four children. They later moved to El Cerrito, California. Pearl and Walter were married for over 60 years.
Pearl was known for her grace, laughter, and generous spirit. She was dedicated to practicing yoga and mindfulness. Pearl was passionate about current events and was a voracious reader. She was a patron of the arts and a lifelong learner. Pearl found her greatest happiness in her family.
A devoted member of Temple Sinai in Oakland, California and Temple Beth Hillel in Richmond, California, Pearl was deeply committed to her faith. She proudly became a Bat Mitzvah in her later years. She sang in the Temple Sinai choir and chanted at the high holy days every year into her nineties.
Pearl's family would like to thank her devoted caregivers, cherished friends, and beloved Rabbi Steven Chester and his wife Leona for their steadfast support of Pearl.
A private service for the family was held on Friday, February 12, 2021.
