I have known Peter since 1963. I had never before nor ever again met anyone like him. He was a larger than life, funny, outrageous and wonderful man. I loved Peter, Sally, Natalie and those fabulous children- Allison and Stephen. He is unforgettable. I am so very sad. My husband and I were in Ireland last week and it was the perfect country in which to celebrate his life

Oh my goodness! I heard the news this morning and am still processing the fact that Pete is not with us anymore! I sat next to Pete in Kindergarten and he was my first boyfriend! You never forget your first! We were friends and neighbors.we laughed and cried together! We were separated geographically but when we saw each other whether in San Francisco or in Washington DC, it was as if we had just seen each other the day before. He was some kind of special -that Peter Finnegan. He was the "boy your parents wanted you to marry"! I love you Pete and you will be missed so greatly at our next St. Emydius reunion!

Peter was one of a kind. I have tremendously good memories of him as a boisterous, funny, and fiercely opinionated man who lived with a zest for life and absolute dedication to his children and family. Love to Stephen, Allison, Natalie, Joanna and Jenny during this hard time.

Although I only knew Peter when we were both very young, I have fond memories of him being gentle and sweet. He only knew me as "Chichibu".
Reading of his life's work, I can see that he contributed greatly to everyone he touched. Sending love to his family.

I had the privilege of working for Peter at the Concordia-Argonaut. He was truly a warm energetic man who would light up any room with his laughter and inspiring personality. His knowledge of politics and San Francisco always made him an exciting person to sit down with over dinner and drinks. The pride and love he held for his family were always a big part of any conversation with Peter.
San Francisco will miss Peter Finnegan.
My prayers are with his family.

For 53 years I have been fortunate to know the irrepressible Peter Myles Finnegan. His distinctive persona does not come across with words and dates, but if you knew him, you know what I mean. I find it wonderful and important that his children are also true San Franciscans - an SF Fireman and a San Francisco Public School teacher. He instilled in them his love of a great City. He surely made life interesting for those who were lucky enough to share his great passion for life and learning. My condolences to his family.

When my husband and I retired in 2005, we thought our lives would begin to slow down a bit. Then we met Peter Finnegan! Who could resist his boundless energy and intelligence? We met Peter when our daughter and his son became engaged. Since then we have shared many happy occasions as members of his extended family. Our only regret is that our time together was too short. We will miss him, but we know that his indomitable spirit will live on in all of our future family gatherings.

May your memories give you comfort and peace. The fun filled summers at Russian River and working on the 1980 Finnegan! (notice the all important exclamation point) campaign are fond memories I will cherish always. My prayers are with you and your families.

It is with affection and admiration that I remember Peter Finnegan who was my Professor at the University of San Francisco. He taught me the foundations of political communication which have carried me through my career. He was dedicated, enthusiastic, interesting, and had integrity. I was fortunate to be able to work with him again while an employee for the State Assembly. I will miss Peter Finnegan. He was a good man that I was always happy to encounter.
