Richard Sullivan Obituary

Richard "Dick" Sullivan Died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Cupertino on Dec 20th, 2012. He was 85 years old. He died of Cancer.
Dick was born Oct 4th, 1927 to Agnes and Harold Sullivan in Chicago, Illinois, the eldest of 3 brothers, Jim, Don, and Bob. Dick married Lois Powers on March 31st, 1951. With Lois, Dick settled in Chicago, and they began a family. They raised 4 sons, and two daughters. His beloved first wife, Lois, passed away in August, 1980. Dick married Barbara Gowman in 1983 and helped her raise her two teenage daughters.
Dick and Barbara traveled the globe to all continents of the world. While enjoying all peoples and cultures, he most enjoyed visiting WW2 battlefields and studying history. He and Barbara cultivated many friendships on those travels.
Dick was active in the community for most of his life becoming a board member for California Youth Symphony and an active member with the Menlo Town Club, a lunch group of Menlo Park businessmen.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He meticulously needlepointed every grandchild's Christmas stocking. It is a cherished momento for all the grandkids. He will be remembered for his sharp wit, and big Irish smile.
Dick is survived by his wife of 29 years, Barbara, four daughters, Linda and Laurie, both of Santa Rosa CA and Jennifer and Pam, both of Sacramento, CA and his four sons Mike, of Kelseyville CA, Rick, of Graniteville SC, Dave of San Luis Obispo, CA , Mark of San Diego, CA and He has 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
