My husband Michael and I met you in Washington Square Park in 2011 or 2012, when we had just gotten our dog Bix. You approached us because you had a dog that looked just like ours, and we bonded as we spoke about our beloved dogs and their funny personalities. Your dog was then 6 or 7 while ours was 1 or 2.
Sometimes people come and go in your life in a short span of time, but they make an impact. You were one of those people to us - we met you, you were so humble but you had a sophisticated flair to you, a love of life, and an understanding of what matters. You used to talk about your love of going to Amsterdam or to Spain, and how you enjoyed traveling there. You had a poetry to your philosophy. So full of life once, you're now gone, and it's hard to believe it. Even Luigi still looks for you, though he was with you when you died.
We will always remember you as a fixture in North Beach, with your Argentine flair, your love of the food at Il Pollaio, your fondness for beer at the now-gone O'Reilly's Pub on Green Street, and your faithful English Springer Spaniel companion, Luigi, who often wandered freely in the Park and on the streets, but who was never long gone from your side. Sometimes we would see you in your old red truck with your ex-wife Deidra, with Luigi sitting contentedly between you.
You have left behind so many friends here. That is a sign of a life well-lived even if it was cut short. You will see Luigi soon on the other side, as you two were always meant to be together.
