Robert Greenman Obituary

Robert Wolcott Greenman
01/17/1942 - 06/07/2025
Robert (Bob) Greenman, a longtime resident of Mill Valley, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025. Boisterous, full of heart, and larger than life, Bob made a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, Bob was the eldest of five siblings born to Robert Wolcott Greenman Sr. and Clara Turner Greenman. He graduated from St. Paul Academy and the University of Minnesota, then served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army at the Presidio in San Francisco.
Bob's great strength in life was his innate ability to build lasting relationships. This gift shaped both his personal and professional life. Bob built his career in finance, working with numerous Wall Street firms. He especially valued his time at Drexel Burnham Lambert and retired as Managing Director of KeyBanc Capital Markets. Outside of finance, he and his wife Jill owned the historic La Pantera Cafe in North Beach.
A lifelong athlete and devoted sports fan, Bob had a passion for basketball, football, tennis, golf, and fitness. He played hard and could break down a play with the insight of a seasoned commentator. He especially loved competitive basketball, which he played for decades. Later in life, his interest turned to golf which he enjoyed with his friends at the Richmond Country Club.
Bob was deeply committed to giving back to the community. This included serving on the Board of the Haight Ashbury Free Clinic, supporting St. Anthony's Foundation, and championing Sister Lilly's work at the Immaculate Conception Academy. He also contributed to the investment committee of the Redwoods.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jim. Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jill, and their children Scott, Evan, and Lane, his sisters Barbara Hopkins and Molly Greenman (Michael Kehoe), his brother Tom Greenman (Amy), and many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family. He will be remembered for his humor, fierce loyalty, and gift for connection.
To honor Bob's memory, the family requests donations be made to the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank or Extrafood.org.

So sorry for your loss! I remember when our family visited and all the Minnesota cousins marched around the house. I´m sure we were singing something. Best to you all
