Robert Imber Obituary
August 15, 1954 - January 28, 2024
Robert "Bob" Charles Imber, Esq. passed peacefully on the 28th of January after heroically fighting the effects of Lewy body/ Parkinson's. Bob lived a life of kindness, caring, and community commitment. He loved auto racing, classic Hollywood movies, sailing in the Bay with his wife on their boat Laelia, traveling the world, photography/ graphic arts, time with family, and the four-legged companions he constantly kept at his side.
Born in San Francisco on August 15,1954 to Siegfried and Evelyn (Edel) Imber, Bob grew up in a loving German Jewish community that had arrived to San Francisco via Shanghai.
He attended George Washington H.S. in the city, earned a B.A. in History from USF, and attended Lincoln Law School. Bob worked as a lawyer in the Bay Area for over forty years, was Executive Director of Pathways for Kids for thirteen years, and had served as Commodore at the Coyote Point Yacht Club in San Mateo.
He was predeceased by his parents; his stepmother, Shirley (Miyamoto) Imber; and his son, Darrell Imber. He is survived by a large, loving Ohana: wife, Linda (Towle) Imber; daughter, Sunny (Walker) vanLeeuwen; son, Bob vanLeeuwen; and beloved granddaughters, Keanna and Arianna; sisters, Carol (Imber) Misrack, Nancy (Towle) Yamane; brother, Brad Towle; and his many nephews.
We will miss Bob immensely and wish him "fair winds and following seas."

I knew Bob from Presidio Middle School to George Washington High School and then at the University of San Francisco. We both loved the Man from U.N.C.L.E! At USF our senior year the Streets of San Francisco filmed an episode. In it was David McCallum star of the TV show. Bob was able to get a picture of our friend Lisa Dewberry with David! He was a great guy! I will remember him always! My condolences to his family.

I met Bob at USF as an undergraduate one year behind him. He was a gentleman and a fine representative of our school and its values. He left us too soon but it appears his impact will last for many years. From one Don to another, rest in peace.
