In recent times, I did not spend a great deal of time with Robert. What amazed me about Robert, was his special gift of love. He has touched my heart and he will live in my heart forever. My deepest sympathy goes out to Caroline, the Leffler Family, and friends.

Robert's passing is one of those events in life that are hard to comprehend. He was much to young and too full of life to be taken this early. We talked about horse racing quite a bit and we were planning on attending the Kentucky Derby together.I really wanted to share a trip to Louisville with Robert. It couldn't happen this year, but I was certain it would happen next year. While I will continue to attend the Derby every chance I get, I will always think of Robert and have a mint julep in his honor when they play "My Old Kentucky Home". Rest well my friend.

I knew Robert when he worked in Alumni Relations at UCSF, but got to know him best when, one year, we walked together on UCSF's team at the SF AIDS Walk. Last time I saw him was in the Starbucks at 9th & Irving. A good soul.

Dearest Judy and Family,
It is very clear to see that the love and respect that your brother had from all that knew him was tremendous. May the poignant words of Helen Keller help you to lessen your sorrow: "With every friend that I love who has been taken into the brown bosom of earth, apart of me has been buried there; but their contributions to my being of happiness, strength, and understanding remain to sustain me in an altered world."
May God give you all strength, courage and peace during this difficult time.

When I heard this news, I was shocked, that he passed away. And, I wa strying to contact Sega a few times, but I didn't really know he died.
I remeber talking to him since Januray, I was discussing about a new Sonic TV Series that I have plans for. And let me say this, he was a decent person I've ever talk to, I wish I'd could meet him in person, but now he's gone. All I can say is: Rest in Peace my friend.
From,
Grant Robert Daily

I was deeply saddened to hear the news about the death of Robert. My thoughts are with Caroline and the Leffler family during this difficult time. We are all in a state of shock. Robert was one special person and such an inspiration. He was solid and genuine in both business and friendship. I was lucky to work with him on the licensing and merchandising of Sonic. You have my deepest sympathy. Remember that the licensing industry is filled with people who cared about Robert and are thinking about all of you in this difficult time of sorrow.

I remember Robert very fondly. The last I saw him was in NYC with Caroline and the three of us had lunch and he was so friendly and warm and kind. I am thinking of him often. My thoughts are also with Caroline, one of the most wonderful, loveliest, kindest people I know. We'll miss you, Robert.

I'm having a little trouble with this- Just today I was rummaging through the archives of my life. I found a stack of 40+ letters written by Bob from 1974-1983. I just googled "Bob Leffler Fennimore". It knocked the wind out of me to learn that his funeral was just yesterday. He was my first boyfriend-when we lived for rollerskating, dances/bands at the Memorial Building in Fennimore and holding hands. My mom would drive me from Boscobel to Fennimore and sometimes he would ride his bike from Fennimore to Boscobel (and then we would give him a ride back home.) When he got his license and could borrow the family car we used to go looking for UFO's. We never saw any.
My heart aches for him and his loved ones. So many times we don't know what we have until it's gone. I'm so sorry for your loss and will share these letters if you are interested. Most of them talk about his daily activities in high school, his friends and the plays he was in from his days in High School through Platteville, Eau Claire, Green Bay and then a few from 1983 San Francisco.
Please accept my deepest sympathies. I know he will be missed.

Robert (Bobby)
I remember as a little boy what a joy it was to play with you. You'd come running up to me and I would spin you round and around, you never wanted to stop. As a man you are and will always be one of the most articulate, handsome, gentle souls I have ever known.
My heart and prayers go out to all who knew and love you.

You and Brenda have been a fixture at every holiday table, every backyard BBQ, and every birthday celebration ... as far back as I can remember. There will now be a void, Robert. My memories of our Thanksgivings together will be among those that I treasure the most: Your pecan pie will go down in history, and your heartfelt expression of love and gratitude for your peeps will always warm my heart. You are greatly missed, my friend.

When Robert interviewed me for his assistant position at Sega, he wore a faded classic tshirt, rugged jeans and a pair of heavy duty biker boots - a 21st century looking Peter Fonda from Easy Rider. I wore a business outfit and did most of the talking so it appeared at first glance that I was interviewing him instead. Unlike other hiring managers, he quickly made me feel comfortable and patiently showed me the ropes. Sincere, genuine and humble, he was a mentor, confidante, and friend in all his relationships from new business contacts to longtime colleagues. His warm outreach extended beyond San Francisco to New York, Tokyo, the UK and all points in between. His solid work ethic, patient diplomatic negotiations, and affable spirit are just some of the long list of rare and genuine qualities that made Robert such a very special person. Even through the tough times, I never saw him sweat, always calm, cool, and collect, and focused on the business (not personal) issue at hand - a rare gem. He was an all around, truly nice guy and I miss him dearly. May he rest in peace in his biker boots, the Easy Rider of San Francisco...

Robert had such a softly spoken voice and a sparkle in his eyes. We always enjoyed his company, his carefree sense of fun, dry humour and relaxed attitude to life. He is very fondly remembered and sadly missed.
Our deepest sympathy goes to Caroline and his family.

On Jack Kerouac's birthday a few years back we were writing poetry about our most Kerouacian experiences and you had a line to rhyme with truth and it was ,"my mom was Fran and her mom was Ruth" and so is mine and from that point on some amazing poetry was created. perhaps some day it will be published in a book... love ya man,

I will miss Robert (Rooster) tremendously. He was such a wonderful, loving, and kind person. My fondest memory will always be of he and Brenda dancing at my wedding and too many to count birthday parties. Nor will I forget the many wine-fueled, late-nite speed poetry sessions. I am grateful to Brenda for bringing him into my life and my love goes to her and his family at this time.
