Robert Martin Obituary

Robert Alan Martin

Robert Alan Martin, 76, of Berkeley, California died Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at his home in Berkeley. The cause was complications from Parkinson's disease.

Bob was born on February 26, 1940, in Los Angeles, California, to Richard Martin and Cleo Martin (nee Bonnell). In 1961 he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Stanford University, where he ran the high hurdles (continuing his high school sport) and was a member of the Alpha Omega chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor degree from University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1964. He worked as an attorney at firms in San Francisco for many years before opening his own law practice in 1991. He was an avid photographer who loved to travel the world with his family, and to gather with friends to play music, talk, and laugh over a delicious meal.

He is survived by his wife Katarina Martin of Berkeley; his son and daughter-in-law Erik and Caroline Martin with grandchildren Maxine and Moritz of Atlanta, GA; his son Carl Martin of Oakland, CA; his daughter Anna (Lisa) Martin with partner Amy Little of Alameda, CA; and his brother and sister-in-law Raymond and Nikki Martin of Lake Havasu City, AZ.

A private memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to Doctors Without Borders.
