1926-2016

Bob Peruzzo passed away at home in Redwood City on December 18, 2016. Bob was born May 3, 1926 in San Francisco to John and Maria Peruzzo, immigrants from northern Italy. He grew up South of Market and graduated from St. Peter's School. He worked as a lab technician at Harlan Associates for over 30 years. After retiring, he enjoyed a part time job for several years as a courtesy clerk at a local market. Bob was a faithful member of St. Matthias parish.
Bob loved baseball--both playing and watching--and recalled his regular ten block walk as a young boy to see rising star Joe DiMaggio play at Seal Stadium. Bob was a lifelong Giants fan. As a young man, Bob and his brother John enjoyed riding their Harley Davidson motorcycles through the Emerald Hills countryside.
Bob married Mary Matilda Navarro, and eventually they moved south with her children to Redwood City near the land Bob once explored on his Harley. They enjoyed yearly trips to Reno and target practice with the family.
During his later years Bob was blessed to fall in love again, meeting Mary Pozzo at a Catholic Widow and Widowers dinner; he first took notice of her across the table as she spoke of growing fava beans. They enjoyed their 24 years of marriage spending time together gardening, reading and discussing every local newspaper, shopping, and sharing in family events and celebrations. Most importantly, they never lost sight of the special place they held in one another's hearts.
Bob's sense of humor caught you by surprise when you least expected it. Though he never played it on TV, Bob's quick wit won many Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune sessions of which he was a devotee. Bob never lost his appreciation of a good motorcycle, a good car, or a good meal!
Bob was predeceased by his first wife Mary Matilda, brother John, nephew Johnny Peruzzo, mother-in-law Luisa Bregante, sister-in-law Inez Galatolo, and daughter Gloria Gregoire.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Mary, and her children Denise, Colette, Stephen (Brenda) Pozzo, and Chris Guthrie, and grandchildren Dominic (Casey), Santino, Jenna, Nicole, and Sofia Pozzo, and his brother-in-law Nick Bregante and his family. He is also survived by his first wife Mary Matilda's children, Vince (Marie), and Bob (Barbara) Martin, and Priscilla (Jerry) Thornton. Bob's extended family includes 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren!
Funeral services will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 28th, at St. Matthias Catholic Church located at 1685 Cordilleras Rd, Redwood City, CA 94062.
Memorials may be made in Bob's name to St. Matthias Church or to Pathways Home, Health, and Hospice Foundation, 585 North Mary Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94085.
