Robert Quinlan Obituary

Robert Raymond Quinlan, Jr. 1940-2006 Robert Raymond Quinlan, Jr. passed away at the age of 66 on Nov. 5th after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Robert was born in San Francisco and was raised between the city and Marin County before graduating from Business School at USF in 1965. As founder of Chartered International Cryobank, the world's first registered sperm bank, Robert was considered a pioneer in cryogenics. While living in the Peninsula, Robert worked as a business manager for many years at Pitney Bowes and IMS until he retired in Palm Springs with his soul mate, Sara Dunkelberg. While there, he took great pride as a volunteer ranger at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Robert was one of the first certified SCUBA instructors in California and was well known for his extensive underwater film work. He was an expert photographer, water-skier, equestrian, gardener, hiker, golfer, and tennis player - a true lover of the outdoors. This passion was passed on to his only child, Kimberly, who was his proudest and most cherished life accomplishment. Robert was a charming and dapper host who dazzled many with his masterful culinary skills and particular flair for presentation. He engaged everyone with his warm smile, hearty laugh, fierce enthusiasm and unbridled optimism - his motto..."Carpe Diem" "Seize The Day." Robert is survived by his loving sister, Patricia A. Quinlan; his adoring daughter Kimberly Quinlan Bakker; his beloved wife, Sara and many other distant but forever cherished family and friends. Private services. In honor of Robert's love and respect for all animals, memorial donations may be made to San Francisco Bay Humane Friends, c/o Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA, 12 Airport Boulevard, San Mateo, CA 94401.
