Robert Francis (Bob) Walsh, Jr. passed away on October 14, 2012 in Moraga, CA at the age of 82. He was born in New York, NY on September 8, 1930. After graduating from St. Benedict's Preparatory School in Newark, NJ, Bob attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA, where he earned Bachelor of Science (BS) and Master of Science (MS) degrees in Chemical Engineering in 1952 and 1953. From 1953-1955 he served in the United States Army Chemical Corps, where he was promoted to First Lieutenant. Bob began his thirty-eight year career as an executive at Chevron Corporation in 1955. He was promoted to vice president of supply and distribution for Standard Oil (Kentucky) in 1974, and vice president of supply and distribution for Chevron U.S.A., Inc. in 1977. From 1986 until his retirement in 1993, Bob was president of Chevron International Oil Company (CIOC), where he led Chevron's worldwide oil and gas trading organization. He not only was a respected oil industry leader, but also an international traveler, a wine connoisseur, an avid golfer, and the beloved patriarch of his family. Bob is survived by Carol, his wife of 56 years, as well as by his seven children Robert, Brian, Michael, Maureen, Christopher, Julie, and Kathy, along with their spouses and his twelve grandchildren. A private mass will be held in his memory.
