Robert Wright Obituary

Robert Wright
January 22, 1943 - January 20, 2024
Robert "Bob" Bruce Wright, 80, of Oakland, Calif., died of a heart attack while vacationing in Garmish-Partenkirchen, Germany on January 20, 2024.
Bob was born in Topeka, Kan., on January 22, 1943 to William Bruce Wright and Thelma Brown Wright. He attended Topeka High School, and upon graduation, attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. It was there he met his future wife Judith. The two married on August 28, 1965.
Bob excelled in two parallel career paths, one as a U.S. Marine Corps officer (active duty and later reserves), reaching the rank of Colonel before retiring in 1992. He also had a distinguished 28 year career as a telecommunications Sales Executive with Pac Bell/AT&T.
Upon retirement in 1998, Bob continued to be active in his community. He served on multiple boards, as well as headed multiple committees, projects, and small groups within his church and other local groups. In addition, Bob and his wife, Judy travelled extensively, managing to visit dozens of countries on all seven continents.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, William and Thelma; as well as his stepfather, Lenel Shuck; and sister, Patricia Murday; and is survived by his wife, Judith Wright; and children, Lisa Wright and Mitchell Wright.
Bob will be remembered at a Celebration of Life, on Saturday, March 23rd, 11:00 a.m., at Piedmont Community Church, 400 Highland Avenue, Piedmont, Calif. 94611.
