February 20, 1929 - April 20, 2017
Rudy Centoni, 88, of San Leandro, California passed away peacefully at home with his family. Born in Badia Pozzeveri, Italy (Lucca) to Anselmo and Ada Centoni, on February 20, 1929. Following in his father footsteps, Rudy came to America at 18 and was drafted into the US Army. He proudly served as an infantryman and was decorated with 2 Purple Hearts for combat in the Korean War. Rudy married June Pardini in 1955, and celebrated 61 years of marriage. Rudy ran a successful business supplying the California produce industry with wooden crates for product distribution for nearly 30 years. On the heals of retirement, Rudy began a second career as Maitre'D of the North Beach Restaurant, where he charmed and entertained guests for more than 20 years. Nobody could handle front door quite like Rudy, or dress like him. Active in the Italian-American community, Rudy was a founding member and president of the Buon Tempo Club. Rudy leaves his dedicated wife June and his daughters Lisa (Mark Zilembo) and Gina. His sister Elizabetta Arrigoni preceded him in death. He leaves an extended family in the US and Italy. Services will be held at the Church of the Assumption, San Leandro, Monday, April, 24 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Diabetes Association are welcomed.

Very sorry for your loss. Perhaps we are related. I have relatives born in Badia Pozzeviri Pozzevori too, with the same last name.
