Roy E. Hamrick

Roy E. Hamrick Passed away peacefully on Sept. 14, 2007 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. He had been battling melanoma for the past few years and it finally caught up with him after a brave struggle. He was born in Oakland, CA, on January 2, 1925, and was the son of Maria T. and Roy H. Hamrick. At 82 he lived a rich and full life. He was an Eagle Scout, served in the Navy in WWII, graduated from Cal Berkeley where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon, and graduated from Hastings Law School. He earned his pilot's license, served in the Alameda County DA's office, and practiced law in his own office for 35 years, having been president of the Lion's club and Alameda County Bar Association. He was well read, very well traveled, and enjoyed life to the very end. He is survived by his six children: Lynn Hamrick, Roy A. Hamrick, Christine Hamrick, Catherine Hamrick, Patricia Lassen and Kris Hamrick. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Memorial Services will be held at Broadmoor Community Church in San Leandro on Sat, Sept. 22, 2 pm. In lieu of gifts or flowers, please make a donation in Roy's name to the American Cancer Society or Broadmoor Community Church.
