STEPHEN CHASE Obituary

Stephen Mack Chase Stephen Mack Chase was born on February 22, 1944 in Ellensburg, Washington to Goodwin and Gudrun Chase. He attended Lakeside School and then University of Washington for journalism. He volunteered to go to Vietnam. His officer training in Quanaco, Virginia, and the Monterey Language Institute. He was a company commander, and received a Purple Heart, a Military Service Award and a Silver Star. After his tour of duty he served as a social aid in the White House under Nixon Administration. Upon retiring he went back to UofW for a Master's degree in Money and Banking. He had a stellar career at the office of the Controller of Currency. He became the Head of the Western Division, one of the three regional Directors reporting directly to the Head of the Federal Reserve. Stephen was an accomplished piano player and a love of the arts. He was a man of integrity and a strong sense of honor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Stephen leaves behind his wife Irena, daughter Jillian, sister Christine, niece Anne and nephew Chase. Memorial service Thursday July 12th at Piedmont Community Church at 4pm.

Hello Stephen,

I never had the chance to meet you, but I have to say, I am in love with your daughter and am going to marry her. The way you raised her is one of the reasons I love her so much and your positive impact on her life helps her radiate to this day. I truly wish I could have asked for your blessing before I asked for her hand, but you were taken from us too soon. I promise to you, wherever you are, that I'll cherish your daughter for as long as I have breath and will work to honor her and our family for generations to come, all the while keeping your memory alive. I am Stephen's second cousin in Seattle and was planning to visit him next week. He was always interesting and witty and very intellectually engaged and interested in things. I was always so pleased to see him at a family gathering over the last sixty years. He added so much.
