A FINEST Gentleman for all seasons ... incomparable ... and ... a Friend a Father Figure. Must also mention His saintly Wife ... Mercedes ... a Gentle Lady who was there for Steve and Steve´s "extended family". Truly a Couple for the Ages. It was and always will be a honor, privilege and pleasure ... God bless them both.

Steve Negoesco is one the finest gentlemen to have graced my life . . . my USF Soccer Head Coach (circa 1970) and Friend (from that day forth). An immortal Soccer Coach at every level . . . statistics are the lesser part of Steve's immense character and personality. It is equally important to honor Steve's wife (Mercedes) . . . Steve's perfect soulmate . . . and . . . my very dear Friend. Together now and forever . . . in God's loving arms . . . thank you so very much for all you both have meant to my life.

Steve recruited me to play at USF in the late '80's. I was a very good high school player....and a VERY medium college player. 30 years later I took my son's soccer team that I coached to a USF game, and Steve happened to be in the stands. I went up to him after the game and said my name. He was pleasant, but it was clear he didn't remember me.....understandable given my tenure playing for him and the time that had passed. We walked ~50 feet when he turned, smiled and said 'So is your father still the Coroner up in Marin?'
Incredible.
Steve changed my life by bringing me to USF and I always have and always will smile with warm memories of him. An incredible man who touched so many lives.
Condolences to the Negoesco family.

Steve recruited me to play at USF from Phoenix in 1984 and that opportunity changed my life, I played four years with some very talented and diverse players, experienced a wonderful University and City, and made lifelong friends on and off the field. I am proud to have known Steve and been part of USF's great soccer tradition. The Negoesco family should feel comfort in the fact that Steve touched so many lives in his life. I have lost touch with many of my teammates and will leave my email address for anyone wishing to reconnect .... [email protected] 602 703-3704. Mark DeCroce

Mr. Negoesco was my homeroom and biology teacher back in the early 60's at A.P. Giannini Jr. High in San Francisco.
I have for many years told the story of how Mr. Negoesco would keep us un-ruly kids in line and his famous or infamous assistant named "ZELDA". Those of us who knew Zelda, would never forget that Mr. N meant business and his class was his domain to teach whether we liked it or not. I respect that now.
So RIP sir. You were always one of my favorite teachers and I respected you much later in life when I learned what you were all about. I am sorry that I may have talked too much in class.

It is with great regret that all of us have lost Steve. I was a teammate of Steve in 1950 at USF. Not only did I get to play with a real champion but had a real friend for the rest of our lives. I was honored to be one of the donors of Stephen Negoesco Field and each time I pass there great memories return. Rest in peace good friend.
