Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather, Stephen Charles Smith, 71, passed away peacefully on May 1st, in the loving arms of his Wife and Children. A San Francisco Native, Steve attended St. Michael's, graduated from Sacred Heart, served in the U.S Coast Guard. Rising in the ranks of the SFFD, after 30 years of service he retired, Captain of Truck 1. Known to have a contagious laugh, Steve was well respected by his peers and the men he led, said to be the best of the best. We are heartbroken.

We are so deeply saddened to hear of Steve's passing. The "Boss" was a true buddy at the Pleasant Hill YMCA and a delight to chat with daily. We were both regulars who enjoyed swapping stories of mutual friends from our shared old neighborhood in San Francisco. He will be dearly missed. May you find peace and joy in your love and memories of this wonderful man. Rest in peace Steve.

My Deepest Condolences- have many fond memories from our formative years at Sacred Heart and through out our careers him at SFFD and me at SFPD.

A good man taken much too soon. His spirt was and is forever young. I’m sharing his graduation picture as a remembrance of those good years.

It was a pleasure knowing this man and traveling with him on my Harley Motorcycle. We had some great rides together and saw some pretty cool things along the way. But really set us apart from the rest is that we were firefighters on Harleys, Wind and Fire brothers. My most sincere and heart felt condolences to the family. I will always remember our times together. Rest In Peace Steve. Gods speed.
