Tauba Gimpel Obituary

Tauba Gimpel In Fremont on Aug. 1, 2006 at age 85. Beloved wife of the late David Gimpel; loving mother of Miriam Gimpel Mazliach (son-in-law, Abe Mazliach), and adoring grandmother of Steven David Mazliach. Also survived by daughter, Ruth Gimpel. Tauba was a Holocaust survivor from Lask, Poland. After the war she met her husband David in a displaced person's camp in Germany. They moved to Israel where their first daughter Ruth was born and then to Canada where their second daughter Miriam was born. In 1965, the family moved to San Francisco where Tauba lived for 41 years. (David Gimpel died in 1970.) Tauba was a member of Local 648 - the Retail Clerk's Union and worked at See's Candies for 28 years. She was a long time member of Congregation Chevra Thilim in San Francisco. Funeral services will be held TODAY, Wednesday, Aug. 2nd at 1:30 p.m., at Sinai Memorial Chapel, 1501 Divisadero Street at Geary. Interment will be at Eternal Home Cemetery, 1051 El Camino Real, Colma. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Holocaust Center of Northern California, 121 Steuart St., Ste. 10, SF, CA 94105, Phone 415-777-9060.

Eleven years ago I was a stockboy at See's and worked with you. You were always so nice and helpful Toby. Your retirement dinner at Caesar's last fall - what a night we all had. What fun!
