Very sorry to learn belatedly about Terry's passing. I have attached a photo of him and me in October 1962 resolving the Cuban missile crisis. I had just arrived on leave from the Infantry Training Regiment at Camp Pendleton, where we spent our day off watching trucks driving the 1st Marine Division to El Toro Air Station to fly to Florida. He is loved and missed.

Dear Anne and Family, What the Kaufman's wrote was spot on. A true Officer and Gentleman. I am so happy we had the opportunity to visit last year. Those visits will be a lasting remembrance of the cousin we all admired and cared for so much. I know how much my Mom and Dad loved Terry and how Mom cherished his calls and letters. In turn it was very special to me how much Terry honored my father's service in WWII.
Terry leaves a legacy of honor and truth that will live on in both his family and those who he served with. His pain is past and he is at rest with the saints in Heaven. In this I have no doubt.

Even though we were miles apart we were always family and an honor to be a first cousin. Anything I can do please let me know, all are in my prayers and heart. Our family has been through a lot of unexpected happeningsin these last 5 years AND pulled through with each others support. Bless you all. Kathleen

We learned of Terry's passing just yesterday, and spoke with his beloved Anne to offer our condolences. Terry was arguably one of the most intelligent, erudite, well-read people we have ever known.
He was thoughtful, incisive, and meticulous in his thinking across a broad range of subjects. We also valued his perceptions about people, politics and history. Terry was a prolific commentator, and for years we looked forward to getting his e-mails and analyses.
Although a soft-spoken and courtly gentleman, Terry was a strong advocate for what is right and wrong in public discourse, while maintaining the position of a fair and honest observer.
We will miss him for so many reasons, but principally for his intellect, his kindness, his clear thinking, and his dry wit.
Our thoughts are with Anne, the "girls" and their families.
Honoring Terry: A true officer and a gentleman...
