He was 63 years young, a good heart, a rascal, constant in his love and loyalty for his family, for those lucky enough to be called his friend, and especially for his beloved SF Giants and 49ers! He leaves behind his deeply loved son, Thomas Edward Delany II, his "son from another father" Daniel Genochio; their mother, Helen Phillipi; six sisters, Ellen Caldwell, Patricia Moore, Elaine Coleman, Sharon Holsinger, Ann Vanderheide, Rita Walsh; one brother, Michael Coleman; numerous nieces, nephews, and many beloved friends. He was proud of his 21 years of hard-earned sobriety and grateful for/to the men and women he met through Project 90 Inc., who mentored him through that journey, and grateful for/to those he mentored in return. He loved his ZSFG Facilities Dept. job and work buddies - he thought he won the lottery the day he got hired with them. He loved all things Irish and "Irish King" was his self-appointed moniker. Tom fought a long, hard battle against head & neck cancer for 3.5 years with positivity, an ever-present grin, and little complaint but, in the end, the cancer won. He lived life on his terms and went out the same way. We're sure he is happily "gone fishing" by heaven's lakes with his best pal "Seanny Boy" and the rest of his fishing buddies who preceded him. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Irish Cultural Center, San Francisco on Sunday, December 17, 2023, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Donations in Tom's memory can be made to Project 90 Inc., 416 2nd Avenue, San Mateo, Calif. 94401. May he rest in peace.
