78, of Daly City, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 24, at 4:05 P.M. He is survived by Marlene, his wife of 53 years, his two sons, Scott and Dan, his daughter-in-law, Pam, and his grandchildren, Jacob and Tyler. He is also survived by his two brothers, John and Edd, and their families.
An alumnus of Purdue University, Tom worked as a civil engineer for various municipalities throughout his career.
He was an ardent environmentalist, active in the Sierra Club and other environmental groups. He also spent many happy hours as a docent at the California Academy of Sciences, promoting science education.
Music was his other passion: Tom sang for many years with the Golden Chordsmen, a barbershop group in San Mateo County.
A memorial service will be held at Peninsula Sinai Congregation in Foster City on Sunday, September 29, at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, mourners are encouraged to make a donation to any one of Tom's favorite charities: the Sierra Club, Rainforest Alliance, The Golden Chordsmen (for music scholarships), the American Cancer Society, Heifer, or any organization involved in feeding the hungry.

Thank you Tom for making me part of your life thru the DCCCT and wish we manage to help our city to preserve its old time beauty. But life is too short to accomplish what we need to happen to our lovely Daly City. You'll definitely be missed by your love ones, friends and relatives. Thanks for everything you'd done for everyone.
