Thomas Robert Dolan

Thomas Robert Dolan May 24, 1925 - Sept. 20, 2010 Thomas Dolan passed away on September 20th at the age of 85. He was the beloved husband of 62 years to Dolores Jean Dolan and the loving father to Robert Thomas Dolan (Mary) of Alturas, CA; Gary Emmett Dolan (Martha) of Foster City, CA; and Michael Patrick Dolan (Angela) of Alturas, CA. Thomas leaves behind adored grandchildren, Kevin, Zebariah and Ana-Alicia Dolan; Lisa Sawyer (Don) and Erica Zito. He also leaves behind cherished great-grandchildren, Jordan and Jared Sawyer and Thomas Robert Dolan. Thomas was a 4th generation San Franciscan, graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School, San Francisco class of '42, spent 3 years in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman 1st Class Radioman and worked at Pacific Telephone and Telegraph for 32 years. At the end of WWII, Thomas was the radioman on Guam who received the message from the Enola Gay and radioed it to President Truman. He was a man of service and he was involved in many organizations, including; Past Commander of the American Legion-San Francisco, past President-Native Sons, Knights of Columbus-Fort Bragg, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Lighthouse Keeper-Ft. Cabrillo Lighthouse, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Elks Club-PER of Lake Almanor, past DDGER and past Vice President. Tom and Dolores moved to Lake Almanor in 1978 and then settled in Fort Bragg in 1994 living there until the present day. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28th at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City with the Funeral Service to begin at 11 a.m. Committal will follow at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, 1370 El Camino Real, Colma. Donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans in memory of Thomas Robert Dolan.
