It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of Thomas Joseph Vellone, 79, who passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, March 29, 2024.
Tom was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. While we will miss Tom, we also would like to reflect on all the joys in his life and the adventures he had. Tom was a USMC Veteran of the Vietnam war, and a proud member of the San Francisco Police Department for over 35 years, finishing his career on the Motor squad.
Tom was also a quickdraw competitor, an avid skier, and had a passion for boating and scuba diving, which him and his wife Susan traveled across the world pursuing. In his many years Tom was much beloved by his friends and family, and he will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
Tom is survived by his wife of 29 Years, Susan Vellone, his two children Carolyn Vargas and Thomas Vellone, and his grandchildren Justin, Rachelle, and Ashley.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 10am, at DUGGAN'S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City.

I worked with Tom at Mission Police Station. He was a great guy, always upbeat and a hard working officer. We became reacquainted over the last several years at a gym where we both worked out. He enjoyed telling of his past experiences and would often say we had the best job one could ask for. Full of excitement and helping.We will miss him and my deepest sympathies go out to his family.

It was a sad day when we heard about Tom's passing. He was a great friend and we shared many good times over the years. Lots of dive trips, motorcycle rides and golf. He lived a life of adventure from his time in the Marines to his days as a Police Officer. We were on the trip when he bought that outfit he's wearing in the picture. We dared him to buy it because it was so over the top. Of course he did buy it and wore it to dinner that night. That's when the legend of 'Tahiti Tommy' was born. Always a good sport and fun to be with. We will miss him.

I met Tom at Mission Jewelry and Loan,in the Mission District. He was a favorite in the store. He loved looking at jewelry,and I loved helping him. Good times were had by all. He was a dear friend,and will be missed. Rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of Tom's passing, he was a great guy. I was lucky enough to meet him through Sue's fencing and went to a few of their memorable Super Bowl parties. He was always great to talk to; an honorable and intelligent man. I honor his service both in the Marines and as a San Francisco Police Officer. He's earned his place in heaven. Rest in Peace.

There are so many memories I have of fun Thursday nights at Nonie and Nono's house. All of our aunts and uncles were there eating and drinking, mostly drinking! And of course everyone talking at once while us "kids" ran amuck. It was fun to grow up in a big Italian family.
I am proud to call you my Cousin. Thanks for all you did. And you did it with love. I will miss you but you will always be in my heart. On to the next adventure, Cuz.

I´m so sorry to hear of Tom´s passing. I met him years ago at Mission Station and later he and my husband became partners. I hope you two are having a cold one and raising hell.

Vellone Family, Tom and I met back in the mid 70s when we both work for the sheriffs department. We crossed paths many times in the PD, the latest being on the solos. A stand up guy, and and ask anybody at Mission in the `80s, a great cop.

I worked with Tom on the specialist team in the 80´s and he was my go to man when I needed something for an investigation when I worked in homicide. He always came through when I needed something for a case. Rest in peace Tom.
