Timothy Parrott Obituary

Timothy J. Parrott Passed away peacefully the morning of May 6, 2010 in Houston, Texas at the age of 62. Tim, a fifth generation Californian, served his country in Vietnam, where as Chief Warrant Officer, he repeatedly distinguished himself and was awarded medals of which he would never speak. One such medal was received for flying his helicopter during a Delta Falcon operation at "tree top level" into "intense enemy automatic weapons fire" to medivac an ambushed group of soldiers. This image so exemplifies the Tim Parrott that everyone knew, a gracious and brave man always at the ready to do the right thing regardless of the circumstances. Tim, a consummate entrepreneur and executive most recently served as CEO of Shuffle Master Inc. Prior to this position he held the positions of CEO of Aristocrat Americas, CEO of Onstage Entertainment, CEO of Boomtown, President of Parrott Ranch Company and CEO of Western Air Motive. Tim loved his family, the businesses he built and the social organizations he was an active member of: Young Presidents Organization, The Pacific Union Club and The Bohemian Club. It was in his free time that Tim would pursue his other passions, music, motorcycling and flying gliders in the clear blue Nevada sky. Tim was the devoted and loving husband of Jennifer J. Parrott and is survived by his beloved children Troy Parrott, Kimberly Walls, Amy Pakter, his nephew Christopher Lomax, five adoring grandchildren and his loving siblings, Candace Hazard Ducato, Gregory Parrott and James Parrott. On June 12, 2010 Tim's family and a small group of close friends will send him off on his next journey at a private memorial service in La Jolla, CA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the MD Anderson Cancer Center, www.mdanderson.org/how-you-can-help/make-a-donation.

I met Tim and Jennifer Parrott in the spring of 1993, My ex husband Jeff gained employment at Boomtown Reno during that time as the manager of the fun center.. I met my wonderful friend Chris Lomax (Jennifers Nephew) in the Human Resource dept. that same year... We were so blessed to have formed a close friendship which included tim, jennifer, Jeff and myself and chris lomax. This carried over to a move to Las Vegas that included a few Years at On Stage Entertainment. Such great Years and Fun with Tim and Jennifer and my Sons Blake, Jared and Alex. They both were wonderful to my sons..To this day, they talk fondly of both Tim and Jennifer Parrott.... and of course Casino and Roulette... We miss Tim so much! Jennifer, much love to you always.. Dear Dad- I don't know how to say goodbye to you.........so I wont. I will feel your presence in every hero I meet. I will sense your joy watching Jennifer smile. I will see your hands on the steering wheel of a beautiful sports car passing by. I will think of you during a song on the radio and remember your love of music. I will see you speeding by me on fancy new motorcycle. I will feel your pride in the gentleman behavior of my boys. I will see you flying up in the sky in a helicopter. I will feel your love and protection around me always and I will know that many of the things that people love about me come from you. So you see there are no goodbyes...only hellos because Dad you are everywhere. I love you. -Amy

I was deeply saddened by Tim's passing. In the little more than a year that we worked together at Shuffle Master, I found Tim to be a man of great character, class, courage, integrity, and dignity. He handled difficult situations with grace. He was the true definition of a "gentle man,", while, at the same time, strong in and to his core principles and convictions. We miss his leadership at Shuffle Master, and I miss him as a leader, a person, and a friend. Debbie and I send Tim's family and loved ones our deepest sympathy.

Rarely in life do you meet a man with the quiet confidence of a seasoned warrior, the charm of a consummate showman and yet modest of his own achievements, the raw intelligence and instinct to take imperfect information and produce an elegant solution or strategy and a ready smile, always interested in what you have to say. Tim Parrott was that man. He was one of a kind and I will miss him.

Rich Guggenhime will miss Tim's quiet leadership and friendship deeply, His passing leaves a void in my life like no other I can remember. Spending time with Tim and Jennifer always brightened my life. Living in the room next to his room on weekends during many summers gave me the chance to get to know Tim and life will not be the same on these weekends without him. Thank you Tim for you leadertship and friendship over the years.
