Ah dear Todd, how I remember working on Richard Strauss' final scene in Arabella with you. How lovely a person you were and with a voice to match. You are missed.

Todd and I had just recently gotten back in touch. Words can't express how sorry I am for your loss. Todd was a wonderfully talented person and had such a big heart! He touched many of our lives. I am happy that I had the chance to sing with him all those years ago in High School. You will be missed!

As a friend of Todd's Mother Connie, I had the pleasure of hearing about Todd's many accomplishments. His love of life even in adversity was overwhelming and an inspiration. Todd's loss will be felt by all who knew and loved him. Keep the faith.

For those of you who were at Todd's memorial service (and for those who weren't but would like to have been), and were curious what music the Cypress Quartet played after the eulogy: it was Beethoven String Quartet in F Major, Opus 135, 3rd Movement, Lento Assai, Cantante e Tranquillo (Quite slow, singing and Peaceful). It couldn't have been a better choice, and I just purchased their recording of it from their website: http://cypressquartet.com/2011/10/beethoven-late-string-quartets-volume-1-2/
They certainly would never use such an occasion as a marketing opportunity, but I for one wanted the recording as a souvenir, and put the information here in case anyone else does, too.
They also played 2 movements from the Ravel String Quartet, a signature piece that they've recorded, too:

Todd was one of my first friends at the San Francisco Conservatory and became my first roommate, too. He was a sweet and wonderful person. His professional and personal integrity was something to be marveled at. He was a consummate musician and a warm and caring friend. I regret that we we lost touch over the years, but will always cherish the memories of our friendship. My prayers are with Joe and his family. Rest in Peace Todd, you will be dearly missed.

Todd's death seems surreal-he was such a charming, talented, kind person, I can't imagine that he is no longer part of our world. Todd was a source of joy to many. I remember having conversations with him about life, the future and decisions and his advice and views were always wise-I still think back to them, all these years later. I will always be thankful that I had the blessing of his friendship in college, and I regret not keeping in closer touch with him over the years. Joe, I am so glad that you had each other. Mr. & Mrs. Donovan, no one should lose a child. My deepest condolences to all of you.

You couldn't ask for a better friend -- through UDA marching band, to every single class in high school, to my date for the senior prom because who better to go with than one of your best friends. It has been years my friend, and it sounds like that amazing guy I knew 25 years ago turned out to be an even more amazing man... My deepest sympathy to Joe and to Todd's parents. Although he will be greatly missed, we are all better people having known him.
