Trudy Strambi Obituary

Trudy Strambi
10/21/1931 - 12/13/2025
Gertrude "Trudy" Helena (née Farrell) Strambi.
Trudy was born on October 21, 1931, and passed away peacefully in her home on December 13, 2025, after 94 wonderful years of life.
Beloved daughter of the late Mary Ann (McGettrick) and Christopher Patrick Farrell, Trudy was the youngest of six children: Joseph, Francis, James, Mary Rita, and John, all of whom predeceased her. She was a devoted wife for 47 years to William Nello Strambi, who preceded her in death in 2007. Trudy was the adored mother of Michael (Alexandra), Robert (Sharon), Nancy (Tom Kane), Lisa (Ross Mackie), and Daniel. She cherished her role as a loving grandmother to Natalie, Maggie, Jackson, Emily, Connor, Will, Ben, John, Sarah, and Dominic, and as a great-grandmother to Helena. Born to Irish immigrants, Trudy was a first-generation Irish American and a proud native of San Francisco. She grew up in Eureka Valley, attending Most Holy Redeemer Grammar School and graduating from St. Paul's High School, where she was affectionately known as the girl with the year-round tan. A trailblazer for her time, she traveled across the United States with her girlfriends, began her career at Pacific Bell as a sales assistant for the Yellow Pages, and enjoyed attending USO dances, where she met her husband. After their marriage in 1960, they began raising a family and settled in Millbrae in 1966, making it their lifelong home.
Trudy loved to chat on the phone with everyone and maintained a large circle of friends, some dating back to her grammar school days. In 2012, she joyfully connected with her Irish relatives in County Meath. Mom loved family gatherings where she would reminisce about her childhood and Irish heritage while sipping her Manhattan cocktail.
Mom was spontaneous, witty, full of spirit, and humor. A devout Catholic, she was a parishioner of Saint Dunstan Church in Millbrae for over 60 years. Trudy dedicated over 17 years to volunteering at the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen, as well as at the San Mateo County Crisis Pregnancy Center, St. Dunstan's Womens Club and many other non-profit organizations.
Trudy embodied the essence of a matriarch, leading our family with tremendous strength, love, and support. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to her loving caregivers in her recent months.
Services will be on Monday, December 22nd: Visitation: 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Chapel of the Highlands in Millbrae, California. Funeral Service: 11:00 AM at Saint Dunstan Catholic Church in Millbrae, California. Interment: 12:30 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma, California.
Those wishing to honor her life can donate to St. Anthony's Dining Room (www.stanthonysf.org).

Growing up in Millbrae and with Nancy in school, the Strambi´s always made me feel welcome over the holidays. I loved being around the bustle in their home. Trudy always kept in touch with the happenings in my life through Facebook and stayed connected with my mother. She was such a dear lady and such a supportive mother. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Trudy was one of my dearest friends. We met while working for Pacific Bell and became fast friends. Trudy was in my wedding in 1952 and we always enjoyed talking on the phone throughout the years. Trudy always kept in touch to see how I was doing and we would have a lively chat about our families and books we had read. I will miss her dearly. My sincere wishes to the family, I will keep Trudy and each of you in my prayers. Sincerely, Frances Spillane
