We were classmates at William P. Hobby Elementary School. We were probably in at least the 3rd grade (Mrs. McFarland's class) together. Even back then, I knew you were a unique individual, always into your studies. I'd never forgotten you. Even now, I was sad to hear about your passing in 2007, but reading the messages left by others, it was good to learn that you continued in your studies and had many great achievements. You were very gifted.

Hey auntie it has been over five year since your passing. I still look up to you and wish to follow in your footsteps. I'm in college now and wish to proceed in the medical field. When classes get tough I just think about you and realize I have your blood, so I continue. I love and miss you.

My dearest sister Ursula.
Its with lots of pain that I write this. You were and are my angel. You were the greatest big sister anyone could have. Today I am just now beginning to face the fact that God has his beautiful warrior princess as one of his mighty angels back. This and only this gives me peace. What you accomplished in life... not only in achievements but most of all as a great person who loved and really cherished others...most people can not do in a lifetime. Everyone...we all loved your spirit, your beauty, your never ending intellect and curiousity about life and people. Knowlege and Love are the greatest things God gives us.
As a doctor you truly are what a doctor is to be. One who cares, has compassion, and seeks to help and heal others. You went beyond these boundaries. I spoke to many of your patients that spoke about just how you made them feel...that they were important and you wanted to help them...and that each and everyone had your focus, just as you did friends, your loved ones, your neices and nephews. You were the greatest aunt.
To Joshua and Gabriel,you can rest assured that your mom lived her life to the fullest and loved God and love you so very much. Joshua and Gabriel you and your dad Mike were Ursula's world. My deepest sympathy to all of you.

To the Entire Guidry family:
I met Ursula many years ago through her brother and my friend, Harold. Because of our friendship I was able to follow her progress for a short while. She was faithful to her ambitions and saw a number of them come to fruition. That is a tremendous blessing. She was a wonderful person effecting positive change in her life and the lives of countless others.
With sadness of her passing I extend heartfelt condolences to you, her family and friends.

Our hearts ache for the Crommie-Guidry family. We were lucky to know Urusula as she and Mike began the journey into parenthood. It was a very exciting time in all of our lives. We appreciated her warmth, sense of humor, and insight, and looked forward to occasionally comparing notes as our children grew up. We are deeply saddened for Joshua, Gabriel and Mike. I was very saddened to hear about the loss of Ursula. We attended a young women's breast cancer support group, and I was always inspired by our talks. My heart goes out to her husband, children, and family. I know she will be greatly missed by many!

I was so sad to see the obituary and the passing of Dr Guidry. I was a patient of hers and we immediately had a wonderful connection. I was impressed by her warmth and personal interest-something most Kaiser dr's don't seem to have time for. I felt like she was a friend, who just happened to be my dr. My prayers go out to her family at this time.

I had the privilege of knowing Ursula not just as a colleague at Kaiser but also as a wonderful human being. What struck me most about her was her kindness, compassion and ability to reach every person she came in contact with. She was an incredible person, an excellent cardiologist & a wonderful colleague that I will miss forever. As a mom with 2 young boys like her, I completely empathised with her on many occasions. My heart reaches out especially to Joshua & Gabriel. May the Lord of love & peace be with Ursula's family during this time of distress.

I, too,was a patient of Dr. Guidry's a few years ago. And though I met her only briefly, I was profoundly impressed and grateful for her kind, thoughtful, and thorough attention to my needs and was so thankful she was a part of the Kaiser family.Her loss is beyond words, and I am deeply saddened. I know of Dr. Guidry only through the praises for the power of her personality and medicine and it's impact on the life of my friend, Mike Harryman. Consequently, I am a member of that large congregation that knows the immediacy of loss, even across great distances. Perhaps we will meet in that "better place" we all hope is out there!

I worked with Dr. Guidry at Oakland Kaiser Clinics in the cardiology department. I will always remember her as a dedicated physician totally committed to the well being of her patients. She was a very likable and wonderful woman who I greatly respected and admired. Ursula was a role model for her gender and the African-American community. She is sorely missed but I know she, and her values, will live on in her wonderful children who she adored.

We are profoundly saddened by the untimely death of Dr. Ursula Guidry who became my husband Michael's cardiologist barely 4 months ago after a life threatening incident. Her outward compassion and encouragement, far beyond any doctor we have ever encountered, became life changing support to effect the positive difference in his outlook, prognosis, and attitude. She thoughtfully revealed some of what she was personally going through to fight the cancer that might take her from the husband she loved and deeply respected, young children she adored, and a profession where she could make a major contribution. In her short lifetime she has touched many through the high level skills she acquired to save and change lives. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten by us.

I remember Ursula as a wonderful student, and it was a real joy to have her in my class when I was a teacher at the Windsor Village Elementary School Vanguard Program. I taught Monique, and I remember Ursula's parents as very supportive of and dedicated to their children. I am devastated to learn that Ursula has left us and her family. She was one of my oldest friends, from the sixth grade right through junior high and high school and college -- people joked we couldn't shake each other! I remember when her youngest sibling was born -- we lived in the same Boston neighborhood in the late 90's -- her wedding was so lovely, and Michael was so proud to take her as his wife.
This is a real loss to everyone who knew Ursula. She was kind, brilliant, a good mom to her boys. I will miss her so much. My love to Michael, the boys, and the extended Guidry family.
