Webb Johnson Obituary

Webb Johnson
07/03/1939 - 12/01/2025
Thomas "Webb" Johnson, Jr., a longtime resident of Walnut Creek, California, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, in Walnut Creek at the age of 86 due to congestive heart failure.
Born in Albany, CA, Webb played football at Las Lomas High School, Diablo Valley College, and Oregon State. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Hornet.
Devoted to local history, Webb joined the Contra Costa County Historical Society Board of Directors in the early 2000s. He served as Board Secretary from 2006 until his retirement in 2016. A descendant of two Contra Costa pioneer families, he donated a significant collection of family letters and photographs (1860s-1950s), now preserved as The Johnson Family Collection at CCCHS.
Since 2001, Webb was also a dedicated volunteer with Beach Watch, giving his time and energy in service to environmental preservation and community engagement.
In addition to his civic involvement, Webb was an author of short stories. His collected works are available online in book form, reflecting his thoughtful perspective and his love of storytelling.
Webb is survived by his sisters, Sheila MacDonell and Dolores White, both of Martinez; his brother-in-law, Peter White; his daughters, Eydie Johnson of Seattle, Ginger Blevins of Lodi, and Nanette Johnson of New York City; and his nieces and nephews and their children.
He will be remembered for his deep love of history and his enduring devotion to his family, friends, and the community he held dear. His presence was a gift to all who knew him, and he will be profoundly missed.
