William Bird Obituary

William "Bill" Harold Bird
03/15/1949 - 04/25/2025
William "Bill" H. Bird of Las Vegas, Nevada died peacefully in San Diego on April 25, 2025 surrounded by family. He was born March 15, 1949 in Manila, Philippines where he lived until he was 15 years old. He began his connection with the Bay Area when he boarded at The Menlo School in the South Bay.
Bill went on to study at Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR. Here he met and married Marcia Kelson. They moved to Eugene where he obtained his business degree from the University of Oregon. After graduation, they had a year of adventure in Thailand before settling in the East Bay for twenty years. He and Marcia divorced and he relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada. Here he lived for twenty years with his partner in a home he loved with dogs and horses.
Bill took great pride in his job as a mechanical contractor. Being a part of building big things thrilled him. Yerba Buena Gardens and Venetian Hotel were projects he had a part in constructing. In addition to the work, he made many great friends which was just as rewarding to him as the structures they created.
Bill treasured the time he spent hunting with his family in Oregon. He was in his happy place fishing in Loreto, Mexico and Lake Mead, Nevada with friends. These experiences were not just about the task at hand, they were opportunities to sit with people he enjoyed and share stories for hours.
Bill is survived daughters, Saralyn Sheehy, Alison Blenkle, their husband's, Brian Sheehy, John Blenkle, grandchildren Billie Blenkle, Jack & Owen Sheehy, devoted friend for life, Marcia Bird, and partner, Jamie Martin.
