With deepest sadness and unbelievable grief the life of Billy Mummert was taken suddenly on May 10th, 2016. He is survived by his loving mother Lorene Mummert and sister Lorie (Sissy) Mummert. Billy joins his beloved 'Pops', Bob Mummert who passed in 2011.

I Knew Bill from Schobers Athletic Club from playing basketball almost every day in late 80´ and early 90"s and he was very good but more importantly fun to play with. I just heard of his passing and it brought a tear to my eye. Had not seen him after Schoebers closed but definitely remember him and what a genuine funny and nice person he was...RIP MY FRIEND

Miss you terribly Plate, but your famous one liners are remembered and still used by all the boys when we´re golfing or at the 19th hole.
I haven´t met one person who didn´t have a great/funny Billy Mummert story to share with the group that still makes us laugh to this day.
One of my favorite stories is when we lived four houses down from your mom and my family walked into the backyard where you were bbqing. My son, Jordan, who was 8 years old at the time, said hello to you and all the people your mom always had welcomed to share a meal. After Jordan walked into the kitchen, you, with your sarcastic and humorous delivery asked me, "`is he full grown". Everyone laughed and smiled and that´s what you always brought to a gathering.
Little did I know that when I met you and Tommy at Schoebers back in the 80´s that you two would become my `tall brothers´ and we would share so many memorable times.
You were a blessing in my life and I will remember and cherish our times together for the rest of my life.
Love you with all my heart.

Billy...seems like I just saw you the other day and now you have gone on the inevitable road trip we all will take one day.
Hope I see you when my bus pulls out of the station and I find the saloon in the sky....PS I took your Obituary card and hid it in the 49ers new locker room where only you and I know where it will be until they tear Levi's stadium down one day- Ha!
Happy Trails big boy...Until we meet again

I had the great pleasure to get to know "Hot Plate" through the years. Bill was so full of life and it is hard to believe he is gone. The first time I met Billy was on a Reno golf trip when I had to return to the hotel to pickup a friend that overslept. There was Billy outside, golf clubs, cocktails and a suitcase in hand with my friend looking for a ride as well. He hopped in and from that day forward I considered him a friend and we always shared that experience. Billy will be missed on our annual trek to Reno with our huge group of friends. RIP Plate!!

Bill was such a Great Guy and Great friend to our kids~ Tommy Collins and Karen Collins Pettus and we also became good friends with Bill through them. Bill was in Tommy & Gloria's wedding~He Caught the Garter and Karen caught the Bouquet sure is a fun and one great memory along with Many others. He sure will be missed by many. But he will always be watching over all his family and friends. Like my Aunt Marie mentioned now Jimmy has a Good friend with him in heaven. He sure will be happy to see Bill.
Our Deepest Condolences to his Mom Lorene & Sis Lorie~
Take comfort in knowing that now you have a very special guardian angel to watch over you.

Plate, when I met you and Tommy 31 years ago at Schoebers, I would have never thought then that I just met two men I would later consider my brothers. Billy, you really were a unique person and will always have a special place in my heart. You had that ability to make people laugh, and no matter how much time had past, you were the type of person you could see and pick up right where you left off. You had so many different groups of friends you hung out with, which is a true indicator of how loved you were by so many. Loved my time working out and playing basketball with you at Schoebers, living five houses down from your mom's house, vacations, golfing, and the 'few' cocktails we shared. Thank you for always making me, Sue and my boys feel so welcomed at your mom's house. I didn't even mind you asking me if Jordan was full grown even though he was only 8 years old :)......... Love and miss you

To try and put into words how much you meant to me is fruitless. What I'll miss most is how much fun we had together - the trips, playing hoops, cards, and golf, the thousands of cocktails, and how honored I was to be in your "Top 5"! You were truly an amazing man and I'll forever be proud that I was your friend. RIP Plate.

Billy - My heart is broken. You will forever be in my memories for all the years we shared at "Mikes House" You were more than a friend, you were another Big Brother to me like the rest of the gang. Always so kind, protective and most of all FUN! although you are gone those memories will never leave my heart, nor will you. It has been many years since we have seen each other and I just found out that we were practically neighbors! I know that you will be looking over all your loved ones as their forever Angel. Until we meet again my friend....

Dear Bill. Even though your larger than life presence is not here with us you are forever in my heart. You were always a huge part of our formative years. A kind person, generous with your compliments and as we knew you "Lungo". Through the years when you walked into a room we were always so happy to see you. RIP dear cousin.
