Yvonne Johnson Obituary

Yvonne A. Johnson 85, of Millbrae passed away on December 7, 2007. Born in San Francisco in 1922, Yvonne was the youngest of the five children of Basque immigrants Antoine and Marie Lepphaille and grew up in the Butchertown neighborhood. She moved to Millbrae with her husband Edmund Johnson (d. 1984) more than 60 years ago and was an active member of the community. She was involved with several community organizations, including the Historical Society and Arts Commission, and was a talented artist who enjoyed painting, quilting and many other crafts. She worked for Pacific Bell during World War II and then again from the 1970s until her retirement in 1988. She was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family first. She is survived by her son Jeffrey A. Johnson and his wife Dale Rice Johnson; her former daughter-in-law Naomi Garelick; daughter, Nancy M. Frisch; grandchildren, Carly Johnson, Madeline Johnson, Jason Frisch and Janice Frisch; nephews, David Lowe and James Lepphaille, and their families. Yvonne was friendly and outgoing with many friends of diverse backgrounds and she was always interested in learning about other cultures and traditions. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family. There will be a Memorial Service in her honor on Saturday, January 12, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, 10 Old Mill St., Mill Valley, CA. No flowers please. Donations can be made in her honor to any charity that assists children or families.

Yvonne has been part of my life since I was 17 years old. She was my FRIEND and and a wonderful mother-in-law and x Morher in law.I can't put into words what a wonderful grandmother she was to Carly. Yvonne (mumcie) will always be in my heart.
