October 17, 1948 - September 20, 2022 Barbara Jean Warner "BJ" passed away unexpectedly on September 20, 2022 at the age of 73 from cardiac arrest in
Kaufman, TX, surrounded by her sisters. She is preceded in death by her parents Edd Dodd and Clara Brockway dodd. She is survived by her friend Ginger Kyndberg of Sierra Madre, CA; sisters, Kathy Dodd of
Kaufman, TX, Jan (Abel) Galvan; niece Devon (Robert) Carvell; great niece Hailey Murphy and great nephew Hunter, all from
Forney, TX. Barb was born on October 17, 1948 and raised in Texas. From there she attended L.A. City College. She later returned to Texas and worked in the medical field. She had a long battle with Rheumatoid arthritis which caused many challenges but she never complained. In 1988, Barb moved to Sierra Madre where she and Ginger began their travel adventures. Puerto Vallarta became their favorite destination. Every spring or summer she spent 4-5 weeks enjoying the Mexican culture, ocean views, glorious sunsets and she swam with the dolphins one year. Mexico was only the beginning of international and domestic travel. Travel also meant meeting new friends which she did easily. Barb had an outgoing personality and infectious smile. She loved meeting new friends who often became new "travel buddies." She more recently earned the reputation as a "people gatherer". Thanks to Facebook, facetime and her phone, she managed to stay in touch with many friends, old and new throughout the world. Barb also loved sharing her travel adventures with friends and family. Her most recent and final trips were a 15 day tour and cruise to Europe with nine of her "travel buddies". London, Paris, Portugal, Spain and Rome were enjoyed by all. She then returned to Texas on September 14 to take her sisters, nieces and cousin to New Orleans for four days. They had a wonderful time. They returned on September 19 and Barb passed away the next day. May she rest in peace. As Barb traveled the world, she created a collection of t-shirts from every major city, country or state. She especially liked Hard Rock Cafe t-shirts. Barb also enjoyed watching her favorite sport teams on TV and reading Clive Cuissler books while eating her favorite food, French fries. A private internment and gathering is planned. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the
