You were my first grade teacher in the 1980s at Cerritos Elementary. You taught me so much then. I remember a time when I said something that was taken out of context by another student as being about his race. I was hurt that people thought I meant it that way but you helped me to understand that words have impact regardless of how things were intended. I was 6 and I knew from the way you spoke that you would not stand for race-based slurs or prejudice. That's something more teachers can learn to project. I have since become a teacher myself and I'm sure that having good role models like you played a part in that decision. Thank you for all that you did for me and my classmates!

You were such a grand woman, intelligent, tenacious, loving, a great wife and mother! I admired you so much! You were a great mother-in-law; always on my side and supportive in the worst of times. My family adored you. Rest in peace Evy! God has you now, and you are with your Bob!
