Jameson Hill Obituary

May 30, 1964 - May 29, 2021 Jameson passed away after a long and brave battle with cancer. He was born in Pueblo, Colorado and worked in banking and retail fashion prior to making teaching his career. Jameson studied at Boston University and graduated from University of Colorado Boulder with a BA. His student teaching was in Baton Rouge and Los Angeles. Jameson taught at Mayfield Junior School in Pasadena for 22 years. He taught math, French, religion and dance at the private Catholic school and touched the lives of literally thousands of students. One of his great joys was taking his French students on field trips to France. He was also known for his original costumes at both the harvest festival and annual school benefit at Mayfield. Jameson loved travel, cooking, reading, trivia, camping, all forms of performing arts and his dogs. He was a convert to Catholicism and a man of deep and quiet faith. In 2018 Jameson made a pilgrimage with the Knights of Malta to the healing waters of Lourdes, France. He is survived by his mother Melva D. Hill, his brothers Randy and Jason, his sisters Nicole and Camara and his nephews and nieces. He is also survived by his partner of 22 years, Richard Norman. His passing leaves a giant void in the lives of many, but our grief is lessened by all the joy he brought to his students, family and friends. Jameson would often end his classes by telling his students to "Be kind to each other. Make good choices. Have a great day. Biyee!"

I just saw Jameson's name in the In Memoriam section of the latest Coloradan alumni issue. So sorry for your loss. I have find memories of him in several French classes we had at CU. He had a wonderful smile and laugh. A fun thing we used to do was make everyone's names sound more French: he turned his into "Jacques de La Colline" (James of the Hill) - it was great fun. My deepest condolences to you.

My nephew James was a wonderful man. I will really miss his somewhat quirky personality, wry and sarcastic and funny. Rest in Peace, James. I have lots of love in your memory. Won't ever forget you.
