Phil was an exceptional person. He calmed me when I came for financial advice after my father's passing. Phil showed me a way forward with my mother and her finances. He understood what was needed to provide her an orderly life.
Phil made a big difference in my life.

Philip Swan was my boss, my mentor and my friend. He had an infectious enthusiasm and boundless energy that inspired everyone around him. He was truly one of a kind, and his loss will be deeply felt by all who knew him. I first met Phil in 1989 when I interviewed for a junior position in his small, eponymous investment advisory company. I knew nothing about investments, but he sure made the investment counsel business sound interesting. He talked passionately of the relationships he had built with his clients, becoming a trusted family advisor, not just a money manager. I was carried away with his enthusiasm and signed up on the spot. Over the succeeding years the company grew from strength to strength, and I embarked on a career path I would never have dreamed of without Phil's support and wise advice at every step of the way. I count myself truly fortunate to have known this wonderful man, and I extend my deepest sympathy to Kay and the family.

I enjoyed Phil so much. We worked together on initiating a Planned Giving Program at the Pasadena Community Foundation. He was a lovely man.
