Robert O. Young

YOUNG Robert O. Young, went to be with his Lord on May 5, 2008. He succumbed to cancer of the esophagus for which he received surgical treatment two years ago. Bob was a highly respected member of the community as he served in the following areas: Assistant to the President and teacher at Cal Poly, Pomona; attorney; West Covina mayor and City Council member; judge (for twenty years at Citrus Court followed by fourteen years as an assigned judge- primarily at Citrus and Pomona); Trustee Emeriti of Azusa Pacific University; Elder of the Community Presbyterian Church in West Covina. He is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Sylvia; daughter Lori Partrick; grandchildren: Kimberly and Shan non Partrick,Daniel and Deborah Reeves; brother, Dr. James D. Young and many nieces and nephews. Bob was born in Roswell, New Mexico on July 11, 1927. He served in the Occupation Army of World War II, graduated from Pepperdine College; received a Master's Degree from UCLA; and his Law Degree from USC. There will be a memorial service for on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. at the Community Presbyterian Church at 540 E. Vine Ave. in West Covina. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Community Presbyterian Church or to Azusa Pacific University where a scholarship in Bob's name has been established.
